The past few weeks have been brimming with PS5 activities for PC gamers all over the world. Two weeks ago, on Monday, PlayStation5 (PS5) restock arrived at ShopTo, and sold out as soon as they were stocked. Amazon also dropped the PS5 stock, and there are rumors of a new batch coming soon. These trends have left gaming enthusiasts asking, “When is the next SonyPlayStation PS5 restock?”. Today, we help answer that question. We’ve been tracking US stores like Walmart, Best Buy, GameStop, and Target, to keep you updated on when you can grab your PS5 console.
Why Is it So Hard to Find PlayStation5?
More than a year ago after Sony released its most coveted PS5, it's still one of the hardest-to-get items this holiday season. There are three main reasons for this spectacle:
The first, and most obvious one is that it’s the best-selling console, which has already sold more than 10 million units since launch.
Secondly, the chip shortage that gripped the worlds’ electronics is also to blame. However, Sony announced that it had secured sufficient chips to meet its target of 14.8 million consoles for the fiscal year.
Lastly, it’s the bots. Most resellers are using special software to purchase a huge number of PS5s in one go. This leaves few gadgets for actual humans. While there are certain barriers set to prevent this, the restrictions can only stop resellers so much.
Where to Buy PS5: Latest News and Rumors
A Sony Direct drop on PS5 restock was on November 11, and was the first from Sony in November. These were followed by a Target PS5 restock on November 12, for both the PS5 and PS5 Digital consoles. Both sold out.
In other restock-related news, it has been reported that the average resale price has dropped by 30 percent. What’s more, AMD’s CEO, the company that manufactures parts for the PS5 predicted that the end to the PS5 restock nightmare is near.
PS5 Restock Dates on Major Online Retailers
Recently, Sony opened registration for invite-only PS5 restock events. While registering doesn't guarantee you’ll get an invite, it increases your chances of getting the coveted invite-only email from Sony.
With Black Friday coming earlier this year, competition to get a PS5 console will be the most fierce in the history of consoles. So, any advantage you can get goes a long way.
This past week, we’ve seen PS5 restocks at Walmart and Best Buy, twice. Walmart has been restocking the console a lot of late, but as we’ve come to expect, the restocks get sold out in a flash. We expect this trend to continue as the busy holiday shopping season gets busier.
Recent PS5 Availability
As we’ve mentioned, PS5 restocks have been plenty this month, but they sold out instantly. Here’s how the recent PS5 restock has been so far:
Target: Oct. 1, 20, 27
Best Buy: Oct. 11, Nov. 8, 11
PlayStation Direct: Oct. 14, 20, 21, 22, Nov. 9, 11
Amazon: Oct. 26
GameStop: Oct. 22, 26, 29
Antonline: Oct. 28
Walmart: Oct. 28, Nov. 1, 2, 4, 8
Walmart PS5 Restock
Gamers are eagerly awaiting the PS5 restock at Walmart on November 22. The retail giant sells the flagship PS5 console, which includes a 4K UHD Blu-ray disc drive. This model is going for $499 and comes with a PS5 DualSense controller. Restocks at Walmart tend to last at least an hour.
You can also find the PS5 Digital Edition at $399, but it lacks a 4K UHD Blu-ray disc drive. It’s a bit thinner and also includes a PS5 DualSense controller.
Amazon PS5 Restock
As of this writing, reports are still vague as to when Amazon will release its PS5 consoles for sale. It's not even known if it has any. However, the surprise PS5 restock on Prime Day was proof that anything can happen.
If recent trends are anything to go by, Amazon PS5 restocks are the most unpredictable. Plus, when they do occur, they tend to sell out in seconds. The best trick to increase your chances of getting the console is to add the PS5 to your wish list. Keep in mind that you’ll still be able to do this even if it's currently unavailable.
Now, once restocked, add it to your cart directly from the wish list. Attempting to access the PS5 product listing during a restock is virtually impossible, considering the sheer traffic of shoppers trying to do the same.
Target PS5 Restock
Target’s PS5 restock dates can be a bit tricky to nail down, primarily because they drop inventory region-wise. That means someone in New York could see PS5 inventory at their local store, whereas a resident in Chicago might not see any at all.
That said, Target PS5 restocks tend to occur early morning, around 8 a.m. ET.
Best Buy PS5 Restocks
Not long ago, Best Buy followed a certain pattern to offer PS5 restocks. They usually happened on Friday afternoons. However, the restocks shifted to Thursdays and even Mondays. Now, no one can predict when the drop will occur.
With that in mind, the drops tend to happen in the afternoons. So, keep an eye out for the drop between 12 p.m. ET and 3 p.m. ET.
Twitter offers one of the best ways to track PS5 restocks. All you have to do is follow the Sony Twitter account. Other accounts to follow include @PS5Drop, @PS5StockAlerts, @mattswider, and @GYXdeals.
Additionally, you can sign up for stock alerts via the various retailers. Most retailers now offer a way for you to cut the line and be among the first to get access to super deals. Here’s what to expect from some of the retailers:
WalmartPlus: Not only does signing up for this service give you early access to Black Friday sales, the retailer now let’s members get access to the next PS5 restocks as early as one hour before other regular Walmart shoppers. The subscription service costs $13 a month or $98 a year and comes with a 15-day trial.
Best Buy Totaltech: For $200 a year, you get the most out of being a member of the Totaltech service. But don’t get your hopes high as Best Buy offers no guarantee you’ll get a PS5 console before anyone else.
GameStop PowerUp Rewards: GameStop was the first company to offer gamers a way to cut the PS5 restock line. It's also the cheapest, at $15 per year. For a fair cost, you can access the console at least an hour before regular shoppers.
Keep your eyes out for the next PS5 restock date. If you really can't wait for Sony to get its act together and flood the market with PS5 consoles, eBay offers a shortcut to owning one, but be ready to pay upwards of $800 per console.
