New PS5 Colors for 2022 Revealed

New PS5 Colors for 2022 Revealed

Did you know you could swap out your original PS5 faceplate for a cooler option, spotting a color of your choice? Sony revealed new PS5 colors for 2022 and DualSense controllers, allowing gamers to personalize their PS5 consoles. The PlayStation 5 is arguably one of the most unique gaming consoles in the market, partly due to its design and massive size. Previously, the PS5 console and controller came in white, which made it hard to maintain. However, gamers can now breathe a sigh of relief since they no longer have to constantly clean the white DualSense controller, thanks to the different colored controllers revealed at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

New DualSense Controllers

DualSense is one of the most notable controllers today. It features amazing haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a stylish touchpad guaranteed to take your gaming to another level. In 2021, Sony released the DualSense in a total of five remarkable colors, starting with Midnight Black and Cosmic Red, which were revealed in May.

Sony stated that its colors were based on the theme of the galaxy, as reflected in the names of its colorways. The Midnight Black DualSense controller reminds us of the PS4 and its black DualShock 4 controller. The Cosmic Red controller also looks adorable and goes well with gamers who like a vibrant play station.

Later in December 2021, Sony announced that it will release three more DualSense controller colors in January 2022. The new colors are Starlight Blue, Nova Pink, and Galactic Purple.

Gamers no longer have to deal with the white DualSense, which is a dirt magnet. With this color variety, you can personalize your gaming set to reflect different moods.

The new DualSense controllers will be sold for $74.99 / £64.99, which is slightly higher than the standard white controllers.

New PlayStation 5 Faceplates

When the new DualSense controller colors were first announced in May, gamers were excited. However, there was one problem. There were no faceplates to pair with the controllers. So, if you had a Midnight Black controller, you were still stuck with a white console, unless you were willing to create your own customization or purchase one from third-party suppliers.

Luckily, Sony released, not just one but five new colors for the PS5 console. The colors are:

  • Midnight Black

  • Cosmic Red

  • Nova Pink

  • Starlight Blue

  • Galactic Purple

Every user now has a chance to personalize their consoles to match their controllers or gaming theme. For those who prefer a more classic look, the Midnight Black faceplate is perhaps a great choice. If you prefer a more vibrant and modern look, you have plenty of lovely colors to choose from.

According to Sony, the Midnight Black and Cosmin Red faceplates will start hitting participating stores near you anytime this month, while the rest are set to launch later this year. The PS5 faceplate will cost $54.99 (£44.99).

Some of the countries to get access to the first release include the USA, UK, France, Australia, Austria, Germany, Spain, New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan, China, Hongkong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Korea, the Philippines, Switzerland, and Vietnam.

Gamers living outside these regions will still get the new PS5 console faceplates and controllers, although Sony is yet to announce when they will arrive.

The new PS5 faceplates and DualSense controllers offer players uniqueness that was never there before. Players will no longer be stuck on the white PS5 console and controller. What’s more, they can mix up the faceplate colors and DualSense colors to create a custom and exciting gaming area.

The new PS5 covers look beautiful and are simple to use – just pop off the original faceplate and click the new one into place. The new covers will be available for both the PS5 with the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc and the PS5 Digital Edition, and will be sold separately from the PS5 console and DualSense controller.

Early Access for Customers

The new products will be available via early access to customers in select counties, including the USA, UK, France, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands.

The Galactic Purple DualSense controller will be available on starting January 14 (while stocks last) and will be released to other participating retailers from February 11.

Moreover, the PS5 covers in Midnight Black and Cosmic Red will be available on starting January 21 (while stocks last), and will be offered at other retail shops from February 18.

If you haven’t yet seen the galaxy-inspired palette of the PS5 covers or the new DualSense controllers, you can check them out on PlayStation’s official Twitter page.
