6 Reasons to Buy the New iPhone 13

The long-awaited iPhone 13 is now here, and it may be high time you upgraded from your outdated iPhone to this shiny new gadget. As is the norm, Apple introduces new and improved features for every iPhone it releases, and the iPhone 13 is no exception. The iPhone 13 was announced on Tuesday 14 September, along with the new Apple Watch Series 7, the new iPad 9, and a new iPad mini. Pre-orders are now live, and unlike with 2020’s iPhone 12, you’ll be able to buy the new handsets on the same day. If you're not sure whether to ditch your outdated iPhone for the new one, here are six reasons to help you make up your mind.

Reason 1: You Yearn a Better Display

The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max have the smoothest screens on any iPhone. The phone now features a 120Hz ProMotion display, which is twice as smooth as the previous versions.

This means you can expect more fluidity when scrolling through your browsers or using your apps. It's even better at playing games and watching videos. The feature is adaptive and will kick in automatically when it detects you're rapidly scrolling and deactivate when you're doing a light task, like texting. This option will help you save battery life.

However, the fancy 120Hz refresh rate screens are only available on the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max. The iPhone 13 and 13 Mini still have the same 60Hz screens as the iPhone 12. But, they have improved brightness at 800 nits, up from 625 nits of the iPhone 12.

As for the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, the standard display brightness has been boosted to 1,000 nits, compared to 800 nits of the iPhone 12 Pro.

Reason 2: You Want a Faster iPhone

The iPhone 13 series are the fastest iPhone ever made. They sport the all-new A15 Bionic processor, and other smartphone makers have a lot on their plates to catch up with what Apple is offering.

The all-powerful processor is an upgrade from the A14 chip used in the iPhone 12 and it packs impressive features, like a 6-core CPU, with two high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores. This makes the iPhone 13 twice as fast as many phones in the market.

It also comes with a new GPU that’s 30 percent faster than competitors. The new 16-core Neutral Engine allows faster machine learning smarts like the new Live Text in Camera feature used in iOS 15.

Reason 3: You Fancy a Big Battery

The iPhone 13 is now faster and better than previous models, thanks to the A15 Bionic chipset, which is incredibly powerful. When equipped with 4GB RAM, you can run multiple apps and tasks without lag.

What does this mean for battery life? Well, you get more efficiency and longer battery life. While Apple hasn’t disclosed the exact battery capacity for the iPhone 13 models, rumor has it that Apple planned to increase the size of batteries in every model.

The company likes to offer the battery statistics in the form of hours of typical video playback:

  • iPhone 13 Mini: 17 hours (up from 15)

  • iPhone 13: 19 hours (compared to previous 17)

  • iPhone 14 Pro: 22 hours (instead of previous 17)

  • iPhone 13 Pro Max 28 hours (up from 20)

However, the battery life will, of course, be affected by phone usage and settings.

Reason 4: You Want Better Photos and Videos

Recently, Apple has been giving its phones great cameras. The iPhone 13 camera setup, while it may not look different from the array of the previous model, has some worthy upgrades. The cameras have several tweaks and other software updates for the serious photographer or videographer.

The iPhone 13 and 13 Mini now come with a larger widescreen camera sensor, which was available in the iPhone 12 Pro Max. This improvement means taking pictures in low light should look much better.

Apple says the A15 Bionic chipset helps improve image processing. Users will now get the Cinematic mode for video recording, which records in Dolby HDR. The new Photographic Styles feature lets you select and customize up to four styles that you can apply during image processing instead of implementing a post-processing filter.

The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max have a new telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and night mode support.

Reason 5: You Want a Bigger Storage Option

Every year, phone storage is being improved to accommodate high-quality images. The iPhone 13 storage starts at 128GB, with options to upgrade to 256GB and 512GB. You can expand this further to 1TB on the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max.

This is a major upgrade from the 64GB of iPhone 12 with options to increase it to 128GB and 256GB.

Reason 6: You Want a Fun Looking Phone

Since Apple brought back the fun colors with the iPhone XR, users have been eagerly awaiting to see what’s in store for them. This year, the tech giant didn’t disappoint and introduced two fancy colors, pink for the iPhone 13 and Sierra Blue for the iPhone 13 Pro.

Other color options for the regular models include Blue, Midnight, Product Red, and Starlight. For the Pro version, you get Gold, Graphite, and Silver.

So, there you have it. Six reasons to buy the new iPhone 13. It's also worth mentioning that the iPhone 13 is ready for 5G in the US. This means you’ll be among the first to truly enjoy 5G when it becomes widely available.
