A beard trimmer is a necessity for maintaining facial hair. The best one is supposed to offer a range of setting for general hair trimming and precision touch-ups. With the advancement in technology, many trimmers on the market use advanced rechargeable batteries that allow for cordless trimmers to run up to an hour or more. Also, the blades being used require little upkeep; look for self-sharpening steel blades that don’t require oil before each use. Either way, the list below will help you choose the best beard trimmer to suit your life.
Wahl Model 9864
Wahl model 9864 is a beard trimmer that utilizes rechargeable Lithium-Ion 2.0 technology that provides hours of trimming on one charge. It’s housed in a durable stainless-steel housing and it comes with four attachments. Also, you will get a 12 T- Blade guide combs to achieve different length trims. Since the blades are self-sharpening, they can stay sharp over years of use, plus the warranty is one of the longest among all other beard trimmers. The best part is that a one-minute charge will give you three minutes of trimming time.
Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer 9100
Philips Norelco 9100 has taken beard trimming to a whole new level by using a laser-guided trimmer for ultimate comfort and precision. Of course, the laser isn’t used to cut your hairs, instead, the trimmer uses a low powered laser as a guide to help make clean and straight lines for ease while trimming. The blades are made of chromium rather than stainless steel, making them tougher and sharper. The razor is versatile since it can be used without a cord. It can take a while to get used to laser guide but it can be an excellent tool for more precise trims.
This trimmer comes with 35 adjustable settings to fine-tune your grooming routine and a rubberized dial that controls the setting in a 0.5mm increment from 0.5mm to 20mm. The blades are stainless and can be washed. There is an LED charge indicator to show when you’re running out of charge, plus the battery can last for up to an hour. The trimmer comes with attachments designed for closer facial hair trimming, longer beard styles and precision body hair grooming. For comfort when trimming, the Panasonic has a fitted rubberized handle. You can get it at around $69 and has a two-year warranty.
Remington MB6850 helps overcome the mess that comes with trimming. It features a vacuum system that works as you trim or style your beard to suction out hairs into a collection chamber attached to the trimmer. The manufacturer says that Remington collects up to 95% of trimmed hairs, which makes your cleaning easier. This trimmer has also other quality features that make it stand out. The blades are self-sharpening and can be washed with water. The comb is adjustable and has 11 length settings. It comes with a smaller comb ideal for mustache and sideburn trimming as well as a pop-out mini blade for additional precision trimming. The battery is made of Lithium and can be recharged.
To Consider Before Your Purchase
- Attachments. A beard trimmer without any accessories or the ability to adjust will be like a one-dimensional trimmer. Buying such a trimmer will limit your option and you can't experiment on new styles.
- The material of the blades. The material and durability of the razor blade will have a major impact on how long the razor will last. The best blades are made of chromium, lithium or stainless steel.
- Wahl Model 9864: A trimmer that uses Lithium 2.0 technology and the blades are self-sharpening.
- Philips Norelco BeardTrimmer 9100: It uses a laser guide to help with trimming making it the most precise beard trimmer.
- Panasonic ER-GB40-S: This beard trimmer comes with 35 adjustable settings and the blades are washable.
- Remington MB6850: A trimmer fitted with a vacuum system to help with trimming mess and has 11 length settings.
What Do They Say on Other Sites
“Lower quality and $20 more expensive than its sibling the ER-GB40 Was looking to replace my Panasonic ER-GB40 with this product (ER-GB80-S), but this product is woefully inferior to the ER-GB40 which is only $39.99 at Target and $20 cheaper. Without its guard, the GB40 trims closer, scratches less, and cuts better (pulls significantly less hairs).” (Justan Ordinariman on Amazon)
“I bought this trimmer about 3 weeks ago to replace a cheaper plastic Wahl trimmer that i really liked. The older one's battery started losing charge and it was getting some wear after 3 years of regular use. So i wanted a nicer trimmer and the reviews and specs on this one fit the bill. I spent ~ $65 for the 9864 at the time of purchase. It is much heavier and sturdier than the earlier wahl i purchased and I can get 3 or 4 days of shaves out of one charge. So i really like the trimmer. Problem was, i lost wall charger on travel and cannot charge it. So I tracked down the Wahl customer service at 1-800-767-9245. Unfortunately, i don't remember the nice woman's name, but I told her my story and that I loved the trimmer but i wanted to purchase another wall charger b/c i had lost mine. She was extremely pleasant and simply ask me for my address so she could ship me a complimentary charger. I was on the phone no more than 2 minutes and i had my charger on its way. I know Wahl is one of the top brands in trimmers, but given this one interaction and the quality of the 9864, i don't think i will ever buy any brand other than Wahl again.” (Scott A.
